With one game remaining in week 5, the fifth week of predictions showed average results for all systems, except for Creative Misfortune's Home/Away Points-per-Yard formula, which really came into its own this week.
The Home/Away PPY formula picked 11 out of 13 games correctly over the weekend for a staggering 84.6% accuracy, easily outdoing all other systems this week. The only games it picked incorrectly were the upset by the Colts of the Seahawks and Baltimore's victory over the Dolphins in Miami.
Most other systems, Vegas Lines and both the Blind Pick systems (Best Record and Home Team), only managed to pick 8 games correctly this weekend for a very average 61.5% accuracy.
Once again Creative Misfortune's Overall PPY formula finished last, managing to only pick 7 of the 13 games correctly this weekend for a meager 53.9% accuracy. It appears the offseason refinements to the Overall PPY formula to create the Home/Away PPY formula have been worth the effort.
All systems, except for the Best Record Wins system, favor the Falcons at home tonight in the non-conference Monday Night matchup between two struggling teams.
Monday Night Game Prediction:
New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons
Overall Points Per Yard Pick: Atlanta Falcons by 4
Home/Away Points Per Yard Pick: Atlanta Falcons by 9
Vegas Lines Pick: Atlanta Falcons by 11. Falcons by 10.5, Over/Under 43.5
Best Record Wins Pick: New York Jets by 3. Jets better at 2-2
Home Team Wins Pick: Atlanta Falcons by 3
Week 5 "If Real Football Used Fantasy Scoring..." results will be posted on Wednesday. How many teams improved their fantasy records this week, despite losing in real life?
