Week 10 - Roundup of Creative Misfortune - Monday Game

Monday Night Result:

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins (Actual ~ Philadelphia, 59-28)
Creative Misfortune's Pick: Philadelphia, 24-20. Philadelphia will have to keep pace with the Giants if they are to have any chance in the NFC East.
Scottie V's Pick: Philadelphia, 23-17. The underappreciated Donovan McNabb gets a visit from the team that used to underappreciate him... Donovan falls short in the two-minute drill and the Eagles escape with a victory... Mike Shanahan inwardly says, "See, I told you so..."
Vegas Lines Pick: Philadelphia, 24-20. Philadelphia by 3, Over/Under 42.5.
Accuscore Pick: Philadelphia, 24-13. Philadelphia 67% win confidence
What If Sports Pick: Philadelphia, 28-13. Philadelphia won 4 of 5 simulations.
Best Record Wins Pick: Philadelphia, 20-17. Philadelphia better at 5-3.
Home Team Wins Pick: Washington, 20-17

Michael Vick! Even though Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb signed a 5-year, $78 million contract yesterday, it is the Eagles' quarterback everybody will be talking about today. Not since the 2010 Raiders (see the Curious Matter here) has a team been able to go on the road and drop 59 points on the home team in just three quarters of play. Both the Raiders and Eagles did it against division rivals, which makes me believe the unique combination of hatred and familiarity are the two ingredients necessary for such explosive displays of excellence. Philadelphia firmly enters the discussion as the best team in the NFC after the Giants stumbled against the Cowboys over the weekend.

Overall, no prediction system did well this week. Most had the early games pegged, but no system picked more than one of the Sunday afternoon games correctly. Blindly picking the Home Team to win proved to be the most successful system in week 10, though even it fell short of the 70% mark. Scottie V, the prediction leader through 8 weeks, has fallen on hard times of late and his week 10 picks fell short of most other systems by two full games.
