The 2014 "If Real Football Used Fantasy Scoring..." season opened up with a week full of fantasy blowouts and only a couple close games.
In week 1, the Chicago Bears were the only team who managed to win a fantasy game they lost in real life.
High score of the week goes to the surprising Atlanta Falcons, who scored 106 points against the New Orleans Saints.
Low score falls to the woeful New York Giants at 32 points. The Giants were unable to score enough fantasy points to beat the real 35 points the Detroit Lions scored against them.
Closest Game of the Week: Arizona Cardinals 66, San Diego Chargers 61. The Cardinals survived on Monday Night Football with a close, close win over the San Diego Chargers. The days of forcing the ball to Larry Fitzgerald are apparently over as the Cardinals strive to become a well-rounded team, which will hurt his fantasy value as the Cardinals spread the ball around more.
Fantasy Star of the Week: Matt Ryan, 30 points. Of all the big-name fantasy quarterbacks playing in week 1, including the star QB on the opposite sideline, nobody would have picked Matt Ryan to put up the best fantasy game of the week. The Falcons are desperate to put their disastrous 2013 campaign behind them. A huge win over the division-rival Saints helps.
